The production team behind The Source’s global hit ‘You Got The Love’ providing the New Voyager radio mix which was also the basis for Florence and The Machine’s take on the classic.

The Cicada ‘life cycle’ began back in 2006 with a slow-burn success story, refined from a swathe of acclaimed remixes transforming artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order, Editors and Paloma Faith for the dance floor (to name just a few), as well as giving the Cicada edge to better known dance acts like BT, Pendulum, Morgan Page, and Gabriel and Dresden. Cicada were also the production team behind The Source’s global hit ‘You Got The Love’ providing the New Voyager radio mix which was also the basis for Florence and The Machine’s take on the classic.

From there they started producing their own material and in 2006, they picked up rave reviews for their debut album, “Cicada”- highlighting the gap in the scene for an electro-dance act with the song-writing to match their hooks. The album sold in droves topping online polls without any significant marketing. It was a genuine word-of-mouth success selling over 30 000 copies (and still counting). A string of singles such as Electric Blue, All About You, and Cut Right Through gave Cicada their global fan-base. Their single The Things You Say went on to be a huge anthem –and Beatport’s second biggest selling single of the year.

This propelled them back behind the decks, and coupled with a global tour of live dates in countries such as Australia, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Holland, Russia and Asia, the buzz that first emanated from the UK grew and grew. To date the guys have played live shows all around the world; sharing stages with acts as diverse as The Beastie Boys, Digitalism, Sneaky Sound System, Cassius, DeadMau5, Snoop Dogg, Groove Armada and David Guetta. They’ve played festivals as diverse as Glastonbury, V, IOW, The Big Chill and the iTunes Festivals in the UK alone…

Subsequent albums Roulette and then Sunburst have seen the guys further evolve through various styles and influences of dance and electronica. Their fervent dislike of musical boundaries has lead to albums which are Pandora’s boxes of well-crafted songs with an electronic edge, forged by many years working dancefloors. They have worked with singers as diverse as Editors’ Tom Smith, Joel Pott from Athlete , Bollywood legend Shahin Badar as well as regular muse Heidrun Bjornsdottir, Ben Onono and many more.. This impressive back catalogue has lead to Cicada’s music being used in many adverts, TV shows and film soundtracks.

Whilst Roulette plumbed a more retro song based sound with live instruments and vintage synths- exploring the influences they grew up from New Wave to French Electronica; In 2011 Sunburst saw a return to the club grooves that was Cicada’s stock in trade- and where they started back in their early days pioneering a more progressive sound.Tracks like Fast Cars, Magnetic and Sunburst have their feet firmly planted on the dance floor. This metamorphosis has been completed with their collaboration with Third Party on ‘Feel’ (which started life as a remix of Cicada’s ‘Don’t Stare At the Sun’) which now sits on top of EDM charts around the world and is looking like being one of the anthems of 2012.

After a brief hiatus, Cicada are now back with a new record and album for the summer, featuring new tracks and mixes alongside some of their finest moments from the last few years.

This coincides with a new live and DJ show which looks set to take the club and festival worlds by storm!!
