Omid 16B Bio

Omid Nourizadeb is better known as Omid 16B – a DJ whose passion for cutting edge dance music is unrivalled.

As a DJ, producer, songwriter, musician and label boss, Omid has forged a unique and prolific career as one of the world’s most talented and respected musicians. Growing up in London to Persian parents, Omid was influenced by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, The Cure, Depeche Mode and The Mission. Throughout his teenage years, he became an accomplished musician while playing in his own band. Gradually, Omid started becoming increasingly partial to dance music, and in 1994 he made the pivotal step of setting up Alola Records.

Although he has produced under an amalgamation of monikers, it was his Orn alias that gave Omid his first major breakthrough when he signed Snow to BMG Deconstruction. He subsequently signed his debut album Sounds From Another Room to Eye Q. The hit single Water Ride – which was performed live on Channel 4 in the UK – was included on his debut album. Omid achieved further commercial success when he collaborated with Richard Morel on the hit single Escape (Driving To Heaven). From a remix perspective, Omid has put his touch to artists such as The Cure, Gus Gus, Danny Howells, Halo Vagra, François Kevorkian and Pete Moss, and his latest productions have been released on such prolific labels as John Digweed’s Bedrock, SexOnWax, and his own Alola imprint.

Despite an already impressive discography under his belt, Omid has also earned a reputation as an industry innovator and has always been at the forefront of experimental release strategies for his material. He was instrumental in launching Face Off – one of the first and most successful cover mount CD series in collaboration with Mixmag – and more recently included a cover mount CD with DJ Mag that was used as a unique type of promotion for his album Like 3 Ears & 1 Eye. Omid’s most recent compilation project included several volumes of the Sounds Like Alola series, mixed by him and his label mates.

As a DJ, Omid maintains a busy international schedule and has recently toured extensively throughout Europe, US and Asia laying down his intelligent and enchanting sets that blend together everything from sexy deep house through to dark yet soulfully emotive techno and electronic. He sees music as the ultimate outlet for self-expression, used to develop a real connection with his audience during his sets that inspires and incites the best reaction on the dance floor.

In addition to his solo work as a DJ and producer, Omid has been instrumental in developing a successful creative partnership with Desyn Masiello and Demi Hajigeorgiou, better known as SOS. Over the past few years Omid has toured the world with SOS, working their unique inimitable DJ shows to promote their best-selling compilations for Ministry Of Sound (MOS pres. SOS) and Stomp (The SOS Collective – Balance 013). SOS have also held a long-standing residency at Ministry Of Sound (London) and are widely recognized as one of the most technically gifted and forward-thinking DJ collectives in the world. While SOS will be performing at a selection of major festivals over the summer, Omid is now focusing once more on his solo work.

With his undeniable ability and impeccable pedigree, considered alongside his impressive discography and esteemed reputation, Omid 16B is a formidable talent and a true pioneer on the international dance circuit.
