Inaya Day Bio

Inaya Day is a gifted singer, songwriter and performer based in New York.

Inaya began her singing career in a church in Brooklyn, going onto attend the High School Of Music and Art in Manhattan before majoring in musical theatre at The University of Bridgeport.

A stage career was beckoning and Inaya went on to do theatre work in Germany as well as in regional areas of the United States. She understudied Stephanie Mills in ‘The Wiz’ in 1992, receiving rave reviews when she stepped into the lead as Dorothy in New York, St. Louis and Washington DC.

No stranger to recording, Inaya has recorded vocals for some of music’s biggest stars including Michael Jackson, P-Diddy, MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Moni Love and Missy Elliot. An incredibly versatile songwriter, Inaya has writing credits on Bootsie Collins Fresh Outta P University album and on Randy Crawford’s Every Kind Of Mood LP.

In the dance music world, Inaya has contributed vocals for a host of projects, collaborating with Harry Romero, Mousse T, Boris Dlugosch and DJ Dove amongst many others. She sung the vocals on Mousse T’s 1998 worldwide hit Horny, which stayed at #1 for several weeks.

Her own solo projects have included the hugely successful Feel It and Shout It Out. Her tracks have been released on quality labels including Positiva, Strictly Rhythm, Peppermint Jam, Subliminal and AM:PM. Can’t Stop Dancin, a 2002 cut released on Groovilicious went all the way to #1 on the Billboard charts, while Movin’ Up and Keep Pushin’ both made it to #2. 2004’s Nasty Girl was similarly a massive success for Inaya, being licensed to a swag of other labels.

Inaya’s more recent projects have included a collaboration with fellow songbird Barbara Tucker releasing Do You Think Of Me, on Italy’s Revox imprint, two collaborations with ATFC on his Onephatdeeva imprint – Mine and Reach Out To Me – and Stand By Me, a joint effort between Inaya and Australian producer Mr Timothy.
